Moving between Hong Kong, the United States, Sri Lanka, England, and Australia during her formative years, her practice is shaped by a lived experience of transience and cultural exchange. Through a sensitive and observational approach, she translates the interplay of memory, tonality, and the kinesis of migration into paint, engaging the medium as a means of orientation and re-mapping. Her expressive brushwork and gestural mark-making convey a visceral immediacy—emotionally saturated and grounded in an intimate engagement with traditional media including charcoal, oil paint, and pastel.
Asha privileges a meditative and intuitive process, distilling reflections on temporality, atmospheric shifts, and spatial perception. Her work is rooted in the embodiment of cultural inheritance and shaped by historical and political undercurrents, while also gesturing toward a universal impulse to return to nature.
Her artistic training began in Tasmania before she undertook focused studies in drawing and painting at the National Art School in Sydney. She also holds a diploma in cinema and moving image production from RMIT University. In 2024, Asha was awarded an artist residency at De Saram House in Colombo, Sri Lanka, facilitated by the Geoffrey Bawa Trust, where she presented an open studio alongside a public conversation with Indian architect Anupama Kundoo. She is the founder of Visual Diary, an artist-run collective that provides studio space for artist members and a community-oriented exhibition space.
